"I am currently in my second year of a Master of Arts in History at Cal State LA. I received my bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University with a double major in Hispanic Literatures and Cultures and American Studies. I have extensive tutoring and teaching experience including private tutoring in English, Spanish, and History, as well as SAT prep class instruction.

My passion for teaching language comes from my own love of learning languages. New languages open the mind to whole different ways of seeing the world, and I love helping others on the exciting path to becoming bilingual. As a Spanish major in college, I gained a strong foundation in Spanish grammar and mechanics, as well as a familiarity with and love of Spanish-language literature and Hispanic cultures. In addition to my academic language study, I have also spent over a year living and studying in Spanish-speaking countries (Mexico, Chile, and Cuba). I have done translation, interpretation and transcription work on a documentary film in Spanish, as well. I have also studied both French and Portuguese at the collegiate level, and spent 4 months studying Portuguese in Brazil.

As a current master's student, I am also an excellent writer with a strong background in academic writing and editing. I am especially skilled at editing and proofreading to ensure that writing flows logically and without unnecessary dead weight. I enjoy working with writers to make their writing more clear and logical. As a lifelong reader and lover of literature, I have tutored both English and History and I find that many of the skills that apply to one apply to the other as well.
