"Hi, my name is Hannah! While I am new to tutoring on this site, I am an experienced and qualified educator and current 4th grade teacher. I have a Master of Arts in Teaching and a teaching license for grades 1-6, with 7+ years of experience working with all ages - especially 4th grade. Reading, writing, and elementary math are my specialties. I am knowledgeable, creative, and kind. My favorite things to do when I'm not teaching include playing clarinet, guitar and singing; gardening; and having fun with my dog, Gil!

Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked as a counselor in a therapeutic after-school program, a caseworker supporting young mothers, a director of a soup kitchen/free community meal program, and a therapeutic mentor. I am well-versed in many academic areas and also attuned to students' social emotional needs and well-being.

I am fluent in Spanish after spending time in Panama and Argentina during high school and college. I earned a Bachelor of Arts at Hampshire College and a Master of Arts in Teaching at Smith College.

As a fourth grade teacher, I have experience teaching students from all backgrounds and adjusting my instruction to meet each student's needs. I have also worked with first graders, middle schoolers and high schoolers, and have strong interpersonal skills. While I can challenge students to reach new levels and succeed academically, I also prioritize the student's overall wellbeing, and can support them in strategies to work through the stress and pressure that can come along with academic struggle and focus.
