"Hello and welcome! My name is Karley. I am a licensed teacher in the state of Indiana where I earned my bachelors in elementary education with a minor in reading from the University of Southern Indiana. Throughout my schooling, I was heavily involved in the local school district and participated in the America Reads program as a mentor and supported teachers in a variety of ways.

Upon graduation in December of 2020, I taught the third grade remote learning classroom during COVID. While our district remained open for the 2020-2021 school year, if students were under required quarantine at home, they joined my classroom so they could continue learning. This provided me a unique opportunity to work with students from all over the school district, create my own lessons, and teach online.

From 2021-2025, I taught in a brick-and-mortar school in Southern Indiana. I spent two years teaching kindergarten where I was able to learn how to teach students how to read. I am trained in LETRS and the Science of Reading through Indiana Learning Lab and Marion University and have experience using Orton-Gillingham, and the UFLI Foundations phonics program for whole-group instruction and small group intervention. Then, I moved to third grade where I taught students how to take the skill of reading and apply it to learn. I used programs such as Just Words and UFLI to support struggling readers.

I am an avid reader and am passionate about all things books and learning. As a teacher, my ultimate goal is to help cultivate a love of learning in my students. My favorite part of the school day in the classroom was being able to sit as a group and read a story aloud to my students." less...
