"I'm Mike. I graduated magna cum laude from SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor's degree in History. I also minored in Professional Writing. As a sophomore in college, I became a peer writing skills tutor. I quickly developed a passion for helping peers improve their papers and writing skills to foster an affinity and appreciation for what an invaluable asset writing can be. During my two full years as a peer tutor, I developed a personable, laid-back, and collaborative approach to ensure my students don't dread writing and feel genuinely confident they can write academically on their own.

After college, I worked abroad in Ecuador and India as an English teacher, community developer, and cross-cultural ambassador with two non-profits. From there, I worked as an education volunteer in Ethiopia through the Peace Corps. During this time, I worked with students of all ages and walks of life more conventionally. Upon returning home, I was offered a job tutoring for the reputable tutor.com as a college essay writing tutor. I held that position for over two years. A nearly identical position on the tutorme.com platform was my most recent tutoring position. This company maintains an extremely competitive 4% acceptance rate for their tutors, so they only take candidates who they feel are masterful. These two positions were fully remote, so I also learned a lot more about how best to work with students digitally and what changes and adaptations need to be made to ensure quality work is always done.
