"Hello, I'm Thomas!

I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Molecular and Cell Biology (emphasis Immunology) from UC Berkeley while tutoring in math and chemistry at a nearby high school. I then went on to work as a lab technician in the Department of Neurology at UC San Francisco, and later, pursued my PhD in Biochemistry, studying the interactions of the endocrine and immune systems, at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. While in grad school, I taught many lower and upper division Biochemistry undergraduate classes, both lecture and lab-based. Since then, I have worked as a laboratory scientist in academia and industry, specializing in protein engineering using phage and yeast display.

I profoundly enjoy translating technical language + concepts into easy-to-understand terms and scenarios to newcomers. I strongly believe that even the most complex scientific ideas can easily be broken down to relatable, real world examples, and that for you to understand and remember said concept(s), one MUST do this.
