"I recently graduated from West Virginia University with a double major in Business and Mathematics and a minor in Political Science, earning my bachelor’s degree summa cum laude. My coursework included a full sequence of higher-level mathematics, and my capstone focused on Maschke’s Theorem and group theory, which is deeply rooted in linear algebra. Because of this background, I am very comfortable tutoring Calculus I and II in particular, but I can also confidently support students in courses up through Calculus III, Linear Algebra, and any math classes leading up to those levels.
For the past year, I have been tutoring college-level math in a one-on-one virtual setting, and I’ve received consistently strong feedback from students. My sessions are usually conducted over Zoom, where I use the whiteboard feature to work through problems step by step alongside the student. Most of my experience is with college and advanced high school students taking Calculus I and II, but I also work with students in algebra, pre-calculus, and other foundational courses who need extra support or a confidence boost.
My teaching style is very interactive and focused on true understanding rather than memorization. I am especially good at helping students see how different topics connect and at explaining the “why” behind the procedures they are learning. Instead of just showing how to plug numbers into a formula, I aim to build a strong conceptual foundation so that students understand what is really happening in a problem and can recognize patterns, adapt to new questions, and feel more in control of the material." less...
