"As a highly experienced classroom teacher and tutor, with over 30 years in the field, I would be an excellent candidate to be your online tutor. I trained and worked extensively in both education and special education, with students from the ages of five to eighty. I have two Master’s degrees, the first in Education with an emphasis on Person Centered Education, and the second is a Master’s in Special Education, focusing on learning disabilities, ADHD, and those on the Autism Spectrum. I have been trained in the Wilson Reading and the Orton-Gillingham Program. I have also studied how to work with highly capable/gifted students.

Along with tutoring, I have 20+ years experience working with both regular and special needs students in the public school system. I have taught second, third, and fourth grades along with a class of 4th-6th graders who were highly capable. In these schools, I have instructed students in the areas of reading and writing, which included decoding, comprehension, creative writing, grammar, usage, and vocabulary. I have taught elementary math, science, study skills, and history. I have assisted students in learning proper classroom behavior and in coping with difficult situations and emotions.

I have tutored for over 25 years. I started with Kaplan where I assisted students to prepare for the SAT and ACT exams. Many (over 50) went on to be accepted to prestigious universities. When Covid began, I switched to online tutoring, using Zoom as my main platform. I have tutored many advanced students in middle and high school, and was able to assist them to enroll in schools for the highly capable in Washington State, such as Lakeside, SAS, and The Bush Schools. One niche that I am particularly proud of is that I tutored registered nurses to become Nurse Practitioners.

I am an excellent student who had a 3.9 GPA in high school and a 3.7 GPA in all post high school subjects.
