"Hello! I'm Alexis. I am a Chemistry tutor with over 10 years of experience with both in-person and online teaching and tutoring. My teaching journey started in college, where I tutored privately and was the supplemental instructor for General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry classes. After completing my MAT in Chemistry Teaching, I was a classroom teacher for 3 years, teaching various STEM subjects, but mostly teaching various levels of high school Chemistry, including standard-level, honors, AP, and IB. From there, I worked as an Educational Technology coach for teachers, administrators, and students, and continued tutoring Chemistry privately, with an emphasis on test-prep (IB, AP, and SAT). For the past 7 years, I have done exclusively online tutoring for high school and university-level Chemistry.

My teaching style is extremely adaptable. Having taught over 500 students, including 350+ virtual students, I know that not all students learn and process information the same way. I take time to listen to my students and understand what is their preferred method of learning. I would say the only consistency you will find in my teaching style from student to student is my passion for chemistry! I've been told often by my students that I am extremely patient and that they appreciate my ability to walk them through the same steps over and over without getting frustrated or annoyed.

I like to consider myself fun and I have a pretty open personality, so my lessons won't be boring or dry. We can focus the whole session on chemistry, but I'm also open to breaking up the learning with some brief conversations so we can get to know each other, too!
