"My name is Sydney, and I am an experienced chemistry tutor with a strong passion for teaching and helping students succeed. My top priority is making sure students truly understand the material rather than memorizing formulas. I tailor my teaching style to each student’s individual learning needs and focus on building problem-solving skills that carry over into other science courses.

I work with students in high school and college-level chemistry, specializing in general and high school chemistry. Students who meet with me consistently improve by an average of two letter grades, with many moving from a C to an A. My goal is to help chemistry support your academic goals rather than stand in the way of them.

I earned my degree in Microbiology from North Carolina State University and have completed extensive coursework in chemistry. I am confident explaining complex concepts in a clear, approachable way, drawing on both my academic background and hundreds of hours of tutoring experience. I began tutoring in college, where I quickly discovered that teaching chemistry came naturally to me.

One of my most rewarding experiences was working with a college student who was failing chemistry. After tutoring together for a year, she not only passed but gained enough confidence to change her major to chemistry. Helping students overcome challenges like this is why I love tutoring.
