"Hi! I’m Darby, and I’m passionate about helping students feel confident and prepared—whether that’s through mastering math or writing standout college application essays. I graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College with a degree in mathematics, economics, and music, and I’d love to work with you!
I know firsthand how overwhelming academics and admissions can feel. When I went through the college and college transfer processes, I struggled to find clear guidance. After months of research and meetings with admissions officers, I gained a strong understanding of what top colleges look for and was accepted into all five top 20 universities I applied to before ultimately choosing Dartmouth as the best fit. Since then, I’ve helped many friends, my younger sibling’s friends, and other students navigate applications, refine essays, and tell their stories in a way that stands out.
In tutoring for college admissions, I take a personalized, step-by-step approach. I start by understanding each student’s interests, strengths, and goals to make applications feel authentic rather than formulaic. From brainstorming and outlining to editing and polishing, I guide students through every stage while ensuring their unique voice shines through.
Math is another subject I love to teach. I have completed advanced college-level math and have extensive experience tutoring high school and early college students in algebra and calculus. My teaching style is patient and supportive—I break down complex topics into approachable explanations and use real-world examples to make abstract concepts easier to understand. My goal is to help students grasp not just the “how,” but also the “why” behind the math.
I offer one-on-one, tailored sessions that meet students where they are—whether that’s brainstorming essays from scratch, strengthening math fundamentals, or preparing for advanced coursework. My goal is to make learning less stressful, more engaging, and to help students feel confident tackling any challenge that comes their way." less...
