"I have a true love for learning and teaching chemistry. As a college professor for nearly 20 years, I have taught chemistry courses to both science majors as well as allied health students. I am proud of the number of students I have helped over the years, many of which have gone on to become successful in the medical field. In 2010 I was one of ten professors recognized for excellence in teaching at my university.
I received my Ph.D. in chemistry from Michigan State University. I am well qualified to help anyone struggling with general chemistry, introductory organic chemistry, or nursing chemistry. I have a great deal of patience and enthusiasm when explaining chemistry concepts and working with students who struggle. I believe a good tutor should look for examples to help reinforce topics and try explaining the material different ways if a student is having trouble grasping a topic. I don't believe that good teaching is reciting facts over and over in only one format.
I prefer to tutor in public libraries or local coffee shops. As an introductory offer for my tutoring services, I offer the first 30 minutes free to allow you to decide whether this match will benefit you and your studies. I have a 24-hour cancellation policy.
While I realize chemistry can be a challenging topic, it doesn't have to be scary. If you are in need of a good tutor who is excited about the teaching and learning of chemistry, please contact me today!" less...
