"¡Hola! My name is Boris and I have been teaching Spanish since 2009. I have a licensure in Modern Languages from Javeriana University (Bogotá, Colombia). I loved teaching my native language and I wanted to be better prepared, so I studied a M.A in Applied Linguistics of Spanish as a Foreign language, also at Javeriana University. In 2016 I moved to Montreal, Canada, where I started my doctorate program in Literature (with an option on Hispanic Studies) at the Université de Montréal .I successfully defended my doctoral thesis in 2023. It explored the link between language and culture.

My first teaching experience was at Bowdoin College in Maine, where I was the Spanish TA during the 2009-2010 period. I went back to Colombia after that to finish my Licensure and then in 2012, I started teaching English at Javeriana University. That same year, I started my journey as a Spanish teacher also at Javeriana. I spent 4 years there teaching all Spanish levels (A1-C2) to a wide variety of people who travelled all over the world to study in Colombia. We focused on task-based approach with a strong focus on Intercultural Competency. In 2017, now living in Montreal, I started teaching Spanish at the Université de Montréal. I mostly taught beginner levels, but also the advanced oral practice class and the history of Spanish teaching. In this university I also did task-based teaching. In 2021 I moved to Greenfield, MA. where I have been working for the International Language Institute of Massachusetts. I tutor residents at BayState Hospital. Finally, In 2023, I started teaching the class 'Spanish for Health Care Professionals' at Springfield College.

I specialize in college students and adult learners, but I can tutor the high school population. I have experience teaching in multiple settings: on on one, small groups and 10+ groups. I can help you write essays, improve your grades, prepare for presentations, prepare for an international trips.
