"I’m Amy and I have over 20 years of experience teaching biology and human anatomy & physiology. I primarily teach college-aged students but I have experience teaching high school students taking college-level courses both on our college campus and at the high school campus. I have not tutored professionally but I have experience offering extra help to students in my school’s tutoring lab. These help sessions were sometimes one-on-one with students and also in group settings with students.

As an experienced instructor, I have learned how to break very complex material down to concepts that students can understand. I attempt to explain the material using real-world examples that students can relate to, making the concept easier to recall.

The methodology of instruction really depends on the student’s needs. I like to provide worksheets or note-taking materials to help students write down important information that they can then use to study. I like to help students develop their own study materials that they can use to practice outside of structured learning times.

My goal is to help students become more confident in their ability to learn material that probably seems very complex and confusing. I want students to feel comfortable telling me if they don’t understand something and if they have suggestions on how they may better learn the material.
