"I hold a Bachelor of Science in International Affairs and Political Science from Florida State University, with minors in General Business and Latin America and Caribbean Studies. This interdisciplinary education provided me with a strong foundation in government, history, international relations, and regional studies, as well as critical thinking, writing, and analytical skills.
My tutoring experience began in high school, where I served as President of the Spanish Honor Society and was a member of the Social Science Honor Society. In these roles, I tutored fellow students in Spanish language and social studies, both in one-on-one settings and small groups. I regularly assisted peers with grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension in Spanish, and helped students strengthen their understanding of history, civics, and current events. These early leadership roles taught me how to explain complex material clearly and with patience.
During college at Florida State University, I continued tutoring as a volunteer, working with students on coursework related to political science, writing, and Spanish. I supported peers in preparing for exams, writing essays, and improving their study habits—particularly first-year students adjusting to the demands of college-level coursework.
In addition to formal tutoring, I have extensive experience teaching and training others in professional settings. As a Community Organizer at the Empower Project, I onboarded, trained, and managed a large group of paid Community Mobilizers, many of whom were first-time participants in civic engagement. I led regular onboarding sessions, offered individualized support, and created learning feedback loops to reinforce key skills, with special emphasis on empowering Hispanic communities.
These roles have shaped my student-centered approach to tutoring. I adapt to different learning styles, prioritize clear communication, and focus on building student confidence and mastery—especially in Spanish, social studies, and writing." less...
