"Hi! My name is Mamie, and I would love to write with you! For six years, I have worked as a tutor at three institutions and helped countless students understand the writing process, elevate their skills, and become confident as writers. I am experienced in multiple course subjects and styles of writing, and I'm happy to help with resumes/CVs, cover letters, and even creative projects!

My first tutoring job was as an undergraduate writing consultant at the University of Northern Colorado. This was a great opportunity for me to share my love of writing and knack for acing college essays with other students, and I learned so much about being an advocate for student writers and their unique voices. Due to the pandemic that spring, we pivoted to online tutoring for the next school year, and while I didn't get to see the students I worked with face to face, I was able to connect with them and help them succeed under new and stressful circumstances. In Spring 2021, I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a BA in Theater Arts, accompanied by a minor in writing, and three months later I began my journey as a professional writing tutor at Metropolitan State University of Denver. While I loved the busy student environment and continued development of my passion that this position offered, I wanted something a little closer to home, and in 2023, I made the move to Aims Community College, where I currently tutor. There's never a dull moment at Aims-- with subjects ranging from Psychology to Criminal Justice and many nontraditional students, including older high schoolers taking college courses, I've been able to connect with so many people who want to grow through their writing.

My personal philosophy has always been to meet students where they are. Whether that means brainstorming, making those last-minute changes the day the paper is due, or even helping students find clarity on assignment guidelines, my job is to give students a place to find reassurance and make progress in their own way and time." less...
