"Hi, I'm John. I'm a coder with 15 years' teaching experience. I have taught AP Computer Science in Java as well as courses in Web development using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. For me, writing code is fun; it is like solving a puzzle. And it still feels like magic when, suddenly, the computer is doing what I want it to do!

I have obtained certifications in JavaScript, CSS, and Web Development from Scrimba, FreeCodeCamp, and the Flatiron School.

My other passion is teaching. I taught high school Biology, Chemistry, and Physics before learning to code. Since then, I have taught Computer Science to high school students of many levels, from complete beginners to the Advanced Placement classes. Because I remember what it was like to be learning to code for the first time, I am able to see where a student needs help to get a deeper understanding. For me, there is nothing better than seeing a the light go on in a student's eyes as they actually "get it."
