"I am a retired teacher and have taught in a kindergarten and first grade classroom for 23 years. Before I became a teacher, my son had trouble learning how to read at school and required tutoring. He now has a Master's degree and he loves to read. I became very interested in how students learn to read at that time. I was trained in Orton Gillingham and have had extensive training in teaching reading and writing. In addition to teaching in the classroom, I tutored reading privately at the foundational level for 7 years.

I love helping students who have struggled with learning to read. All students can learn to read, sometimes they just need a little explicit, direct 1:1 instruction to learn how reading works and see that they can be successful.

If you are a professional who knows English, and needs to improve your pronunciation so you are more easily understood, I can help you. I have taught ESL to adults at the adult school, and I have volunteered to teach English to children and adults in Ecuador and Colombia and through an online platform. I also taught many English learners in my classroom.
