"Hello, I'm Dyanne! I graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies for early childhood through fourth grade. I continued my education at Simpson University where I received a Master's of Education in Curriculum Instruction and ELL Instruction. I am a certified teacher and have an ESL supplemental teaching certificate through the state of Texas.

My teaching career started as an ESL teacher in an after-school program in South Korea for one year. Then I taught preschool, kindergarten, and first grade at international schools in Seoul for 11 years; I taught students from all over the world with varying degrees of English fluency. I have extensive experience teaching reading, writing, phonics, and English language to young children. I have worked closely with the Common Core Standards as well as a variety of curriculum including the Reading and Writing Workshop.

I have worked one-on-one with students learning English and tutored students in reading, writing, phonemic awareness, and phonics. I love to engage students, help them make connections, and grow in their confidence as learners. I provide hands-on activities when possible, scaffold lessons to the child's ability, and give nudges to try new or hard skills on their own. I hope to instill a love for learning in my students as we work, learn, and grow together.

I have lived overseas for thirteen years in South Korea, so I understand firsthand what it is like to not understand a language. I have worked with English speakers, ESL and ELL students for all of those years. Though my experience is with young learners, I am always open to teaching English to older students and adults, as it is my passion.
