"Hello, my name is Jake! From a young age, I have always had a fascination with numbers and problem solving. It began just before elementary school, when my mother would buy me math activity books and I could not get enough of them. From that moment on, I would take any opportunity I could get to be around numbers, math clubs, extra classes, and any extracurricular activities involving numbers. Growing up with an affinity for numbers led me to become the de facto tutor for my four younger siblings, all with their own unique learning styles, and through this experience I fell in love with teaching and tutoring.
I received my bachelor’s degree from Bryant University, graduating with honors, majoring in economics and minoring in mathematics, psychology, and finance. While attending Bryant, I had the great opportunity to act as a coordinator for the seventh grade after school math tutoring group at Nathanael Greene Middle School for two semesters, creating lesson plans and working with the students in small groups to help expand their understanding.
Since that time, I have entered graduate school where I have been studying economics at the master’s level. In addition to my studies at UNH, I worked as a teaching assistant for my first year, for both principles of microeconomics and the senior capstone class. This experience taught me a lot about one-on-one tutoring and explaining complex ideas in a more approachable and understandable fashion.
My goal, as a tutor on this platform, is to help benefit students as much as I am able to, and I am always open to feedback and suggestions on how my style can be improved! I try to always be available to reach on here, so please feel free to reach out with any questions or comments or to schedule a session!" less...
