"With over 15 years of experience as a licensed and certified Occupational Therapist, I specialize in supporting children of all abilities—from general education students to those with significant special needs. My journey began during my master’s program in Occupational Therapy, where I discovered a passion for helping children succeed in educational settings. My experience includes working with a wide range of diagnoses, such as ADHD, autism, anxiety, and cerebral palsy. I hold active licenses through both the Board of Educational Examiners and Public Health and am certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
I bring a deep understanding of child development and hands-on expertise in fine motor skill development and handwriting instruction. I specialize in identifying skill deficits that impact handwriting or other motor tasks and use individualized strategies to improve legibility—tailored to each student’s unique needs and learning style.
I believe in explicit instruction when teaching handwriting, scaffolding supports when appropriate. I believe every student has the ability to learn and improve their legibility when writing. I have continuing education specifically in teaching Handwriting Without Tears and have had success using the multi-sensory approach to learning. Using evidenced based practices are essential to success. Accommodations and other learning supports will also be recommended and ideally faded.
Whether your child needs help building foundational skills or targeted support to overcome specific challenges, I provide compassionate, personalized guidance to help them gain confidence and succeed. Parent involvement is also essential to a student's success so that there can be reinforcement outside of tutoring sessions." less...
