"Hi, y'all! I'm Erin. I have a bachelor's degree in social work with a minor in early childhood education and a master's degree in social work. Most recently, I have been working in higher education. Before that I worked as a professional writing tutor at a university writing center. I also have experience as a CX debate competitor, coach, and judge.
I am also a mother who homeschooled my children throughout their elementary school years. I absolutely loved designing lesson plans that were tailored to meet their needs. We made learning fun by incorporating their unique interests across curriculum. Who says you can't learn science and math through Harry Potter themed lessons? Why can't English/Language Arts have a super hero or space travel focus? The possibilities are truly endless.
I have taught many advanced social work courses at the college level. I've designed curriculum and been the lead instructor for classes like: Introduction to Social Work, Aging in American Society, Death and Grieving, Grant Writing, Social Policy, Social Work with Individuals and Families, Social Work with Communities, and Human Behavior in the Social Environment. In my social work practice, I've used arts-based programming to work with individuals experiencing homelessness, older adults with cognitive concerns, and families facing challenging health diagnoses. Social work is a personal passion of mine and I am enthusiastic about training aspiring social workers.
My background as a professional writing tutor at a writing center prepared me to help writers at all stages of the writing process. In this position, I helped students and faculty to brainstorm ideas, revise papers, and properly cite sources using MLA and APA. I am well prepared to partner with you to tackle any hiccups or challenges that you might be facing in your writing journey.
If you're here to learn, I'm here to support you in that journey. Parents and students, please feel free to reach out with any questions that you might have. Let's schedule our first lesson!" less...
