"Hello! I'm Liz. I absolutely love empowering students to attain their academic goals. I graduated from an Ivy League university, I have perfect verbal SAT and GRE scores, and I have a Bachelor's and Master’s in Cultural Studies. I was lucky to have excellent teachers along the way who inspired and supported me. I paid close attention to their craft and practices because I always wanted to become a teacher myself. Now, I have almost twenty years of experience as an educator. I like to be creative in my approach, and always try to make learning fun. Students find me to be a compassionate, supportive, effective teacher and advocate who can explain complex ideas clearly and concisely. This is why I’ve won a student-choice teaching award, and why students elect to take independent studies with me on top of their regular course loads. For example, one of my students recently emailed to say: “I got a 5 on the APUSH exam!! I just wanted to thank you again for being the best teacher and for the awesome years. I can’t wait to continue my journey with history.”

Over the years I’ve taught AP US History, College Essay Writing, World History, ESOL and English. I am a certified teacher in the state of Maine. I’ve worked with groups and one-on-one, from AP students who plan to attend elite colleges to students who don’t plan to attend school after high school. I offer them all the same compassionate, quality instruction that gets results.
