"While earning my degree in Early Childhood–Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, I began my career in a childcare center, where I spent four years supporting toddlers as they explored language and early literacy. Those early experiences taught me the importance of a strong foundation in communication and began my interested in how our students learn to read.

I then became a second-grade teacher in Wisconsin for two years before moving to Charleston, South Carolina, where I taught fourth grade ELA for four years. During that time, I deepened my understanding of effective reading instruction and also earned my master’s degree in Educational Administration from The Citadel. My journey then led me to become a literacy coach for two years, supporting teachers and students in improving reading achievement.

Today, I work with a school district supporting English Language Arts content across schools. With a deep understanding of how children learn to read through the Science of Reading, I am able to identify and address reading needs.
