"I graduated summa cum laude with an M.A. in English Language and Literature and have spent over twenty years teaching English to students in grades 4-12. I believe every student learns differently, and I pride myself on creating personalized lessons that meet each student’s individual needs. I work with students to analyze literature critically, refine their writing, and master grammar and vocabulary in a way that makes them more effective communicators. My goal is always to challenge students while making learning enjoyable and building their confidence.
Beyond my classroom experience, I have extensive knowledge of standardized testing. I served as the Coordinator and Analyst for all standardized testing at a previous school, attending conferences, overseeing test administration and analyzing results to help improve curriculum and performance. I was also one of just six teachers nationwide selected to review test questions for the 2013 6th and 7th grade ERB tests. This unique experience has given me a deep understanding of how standardized tests are designed and what makes certain questions challenging. I teach students how to analyze test questions, narrow down answer choices, and apply strategic test-taking techniques to help them perform at their best.
In addition to test prep, I specialize in helping students craft personal essays for high school and college admissions. I’ve guided many students through the process of writing essays that are authentic, compelling, and stand out to admissions committees. I know firsthand how important it is to tell your personal story in a way that reflects who you are and what you can bring to a school community. My students have been admitted to their top-choice schools, and I’m proud to help them express their unique qualities through their essays. From brainstorming ideas to polishing the final draft, I work with each student to ensure their essay is a true reflection of their strengths and aspirations, setting them apart in the competitive admissions process." less...
