"Hello! My name is Amanda, or Ms. M., as my students call me. I have been teaching for the past nine years and absolutely love my days spent in the classroom with my littles. Currently, I teach Transitional Kindergarten (TK), but have taught a few grades throughout my years as an educator. I have taught Fourth Grade, Fifth Grade, First Grade and Kindergarten. It was when I moved down to the youngest of learners when I really found my passion. I love teaching young children how to read, write, and introduce them to the foundational math strategies associated with the lower grades.

Similar to the lessons I create in my classroom, the lessons I create for tutoring sessions usually begin with a fun and engaging hook to get students interested in the topic we are covering before diving into the thick of the content. I love helping students thrive and succeed and witnessing those 'aha' moments when things click into place and they feel that sense of accomplishment as they feel they mastered something new. It truly is one of the best parts about teaching. My hope is that I am able to take some of my experience and expertise I have gained in my classroom and apply it to tutoring sessions with students I'm lucky enough to work with outside my classroom.

In addition to my teaching experience, I have both my Bachelor's and Master's in Education from California State University, Bakersfield. While going to college to become a teacher, I was also the director of an After School Enrichment Program for five years. Our program oversaw the after school care and tutoring of nearly one hundred students, age ranged Kindergarten through Sixth Grade.
