"I am a Library Instructional Coach with Milwaukee Public Schools. I have been a Library Media Specialist for over 20 years. I have a Master of Arts in Teaching from National Louis University, graduating Magna cum. My role in the library is unique and embodies the values of collaboration, continuous improvement, empathy, integrity, perseverance, and respect for every student. I utilize what I have taught in the library to tutor students. I encourage students to use critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. I want every student to achieve personal excellence. I feel reading and comprehension of reading is crucial for every student. That comprehension helps them in every subject in school, especially when it comes to taking state tests. I want students to make social connections, broaden their knowledge base and interests, and expand reading for information opportunities.

I have tutored K—12th-grade students in reading, math, writing, organizational skills, and test preparation. I have also taught students in Beijing how to speak English and been a tutor for homebound high school students. I have taught online students through Varsity Tutors for five years, from K to 8th grade. My success in tutoring is providing an upbeat, interactive experience for students. I strive to create an environment where students feel comfortable, valued, and excited to learn.

I have a son with ADHD, that has given me a unique insight into the challenges some students face. I have had to tutor him at home because school was so distracting for him. This experience has shaped my commitment to supporting struggling students and creating a comfortable and inclusive learning environment in my tutoring sessions.
