"My name is Alex P. I attend the University of Florida for English and Journalism, and I am looking for a minor in Spanish, as well as a Master's in Education. My main experience with tutoring is for most levels of English and writing. However, I will tutor any subject on an elementary level, as I love working with young students. I am a published online writer, and am known by my professionalism and fun attitude. I think that latter part is important for working with young students. They want to have fun while they're learning, and I take enjoy making that happen.

When tutoring English/Comprehension, and other subjects at the elementary level, I have a specific method that I like to follow. First, it's important to assess the student's level before the tutoring begins. That tells me where I can go from there, what I need to build off of, and what needs are the greatest. To explain my tutoring method, I'll use an example from English. After I have determined what the needs of the student are, I will show them examples. I think that questions are very important, and not just from the student. As a tutor, I will ask the student, "Why do you think that answer tells us the main idea?" I will create worksheets based on those central ideas that they have the most trouble on. A lot of tutors will just teach, but I feel it is important to find a balance between teaching and testing to continually see what the student is learning and to keep track of what the student is still not understanding. It's a form of self-checking to see progress.

I form bonds very quickly with my students. I am someone that is very easy to get along with, and I try to allow the student to become as comfortable as they can in the learning environment that I provide. Dare I say we might even share a few laughs as we look at problems. The teaching that I give is always interactive, which I feel is very important.
