"Hi there! I'm a passionate educator with a strong academic foundation in English education. I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor's degree in English Literature, then went on to earn my Master's in Secondary English Education from Fairfield University, where I graduated at the top of my class. I’m also a Connecticut Writing Project Fellow, a distinction that has connected me with educators statewide and enabled me to work with diverse students from grades K-12 across Connecticut.
Over the past nine years, I’ve gained extensive experience teaching secondary and post-secondary students. Prior to becoming a teacher, I spent six years working as a college-level writing tutor, helping students develop their writing and editing skills. I now teach English at a public high school and have honed my skills across multiple areas of English and humanities instruction. In addition to my work as a public school teacher, I also continue to do outreach work with the Connecticut Writing Project. Since becoming a CWP fellow, I've led writing workshops for young women writers, taught literacy to marginalized students, and have led professional development workshops for equity-based practices in writing instruction. As a result of my combined experience, I specialize in the following areas: most forms of writing (basic essay composition, creative writing, college essays, literary analysis, etc.) reading, grammar, essay revisions, and SAT prep.
My favorite aspect of teaching has always been working with students—helping them meet their goals and watching them grow as both writers and thinkers. My approach is student-centered (i.e., you first!), flexible, and consistent. In practice, this might involve co-creating goals, providing detailed feedback at every stage of the writing process, and working through common writing struggles together. If you think we would be a good fit, contact me to schedule your first session!" less...
