"My name is Lauren V and I am currently a K-2 ESL/ML Teacher in NJ. I love to create engaging and relatable lessons for my students. I am certified in Special Education K-5, Elementary Education, and English as a Second Language. I going into my 5th year of teaching ESL at the elementary level. I am a professional member of NJTESOL/NJBE. I have presented research at the NJTESOL/NJBE annual conference the last two years. I am a life long learner myself and always continue to read article and listen to audio books on how to become an even better teacher myself. Teaching is my passion and allowing students to gain their own perspectives and voice while learning.

I attended Elon University as a Teaching Fellow and an undergraduate student. I double majored in Special Education and Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish. In 2023, I received my Master of Education degree from Drew University specializing in English as a Second Language. I love working with elementary students and I have also tutored adults as well in English skills.

When I teach ESL I focus in the content area of science and real life skills when teaching language. Students will use phonics, reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in each lesson to expand their language development. During our first lesson, the student and I will create measurable goals to work toward. Each session, I will monitor the progress of the student with formative and summative assessments.
