"My name is Zena. I graduated from the College of Education with a bachelor’s degree in English. I was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship to pursue an MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) in USA. I also have a certification in Rhetoric and Composition. I have taught ESL and English to students at different levels in Iraq, Japan, and the United States.

Throughout my academic journey, I was fortunate to have inspiring English teachers and professors who showed me how to make language learning both enjoyable and productive. As a bilingual speaker of Arabic and English, I recognize how a first language can serve as a foundation for learning another language, and I encourage students to use this competence to their advantage. My goal is to share the knowledge and experiences I have gained through years of study and teaching. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students succeed, whether by earning scholarships, receiving awards, or advancing confidently in their language-learning paths.

I always work towards making every student’s learning experience meaningful and motivating. I believe students bring valuable knowledge and perspectives to the learning situation, so I design my lessons to build on their strengths. I encourage participation and reassure students that mistakes are part of the learning process. I also connect language learning to real-life situations and authentic experiences, helping students apply English to their own needs, goals, and future careers.

In addition to my classroom experience, I have three years of tutoring experience in ESL and English with high school and adult learners. I have worked with both individuals and small groups (4–6 students), planning lessons based on their needs and backgrounds. I do have solid teaching and tutoring experience while also flexible and open to new methods and materials that enhance student learning.
