"I attended Coastal Carolina University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a Minor in New Media and Digital Culture, as well as a Master of Arts in Writing degree. While I am passionate about the English language and literary arts as a whole, my time as a Graduate Teaching Assistant made the biggest impact. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant my job was to assist the professor with her classes from the development of the syllabus, to teaching course materials. Communication with students and colleagues was of the utmost importance. Part of my duties in this position was to hold office hours for students to work on developing their writing skills, as well as their research skills. An essential part of this job was to conduct writing workshops and direct students toward resources.

I love reading anything and everything. My professors encouraged me to delve into the depths of creative writing and literature. I wanted to give this spark to my students as well and to give them a haven for discovery and creativity. I was able to offer resources, time, and attention to students who just entered college and needed the most support. I had a difficult time in elementary school through middle school, lacking special attention and guidance in learning. I struggled until high school when I took it upon myself to find the answers. My eyes were opened when I went to college and received all the resources that I never had. While my teaching experience is with university students, my personal experience has encouraged me to help kids in their learning journey before they reach the point of frustration that I and so many people are at. Reading and Writing are important fundamentals for kids/adults and how they receive their education will determine how they view learning, knowledge, and success in the future.
