"Hi, I’m Cassie! I graduated from Indiana University in 2020 with a double major in Economics and Public Policy Analysis. In college I most enjoyed learning from professors who were deeply passionate about the content and helped me apply math to real world scenarios. Since then I have spent 4 years teaching Algebra 1 and some Financial Literacy to high school students.

In the classroom I try to maintain a blend of critical thinking and problem solving with explicit instruction and guidance as needed. My hope for students is that they are able to internalize the reasoning behind math rather than memorize the procedures without deep thought. I tutor my students informally during lunch or after school hours in order to make sure they are prepared for exams and caught up on any material that was particularly difficult for them. I also spent a few years in high school tutoring other students less formally.

My goal for all students is that the lessons are meaningful and help them think critically about obstacles they may face in math class or in life.
