"Hello, I’m Rita! Anyone can understand math and science, but they need someone to meet them where they are at with the material. I work with my students to connect new material to what they already know. I create a supportive space for a student to actively engage with the material and ask questions. Getting it wrong is part of the learning process, and my job as a tutor is to guide the student towards understanding. As a tutor, I do not create wholesale lessons to teach the student new material from scratch, but I am happy to re-teach material a student didn’t understand the first time.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a minor in Biology, and a Master’s in Chemistry. I have six years of experience tutoring middle and high school math and science, and eight years of experience tutoring and teaching college math, biology, and chemistry.
For high school students, I tutor the following math subjects: Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, Calculus, AP Calculus AB and BC. I also tutor general and AP Chemistry, and general and AP Biology.
For college students, I tutor Calculus I, General Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, and Introductory Psychology.
I am happy to tutor in person at a local library or other public location, as well as online. If you need to cancel, I require at least four hours’ notice. I offer a free 10-minute consultation to align our goals for tutoring. Please reach out with any additional questions or to schedule a session!" less...
