"Hello! My name is Raj S., and I hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry with a focus on organometallic chemistry. My academic path includes doctoral research at National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Drug Design at the University of Minnesota. Most recently, I worked as a Research Scientist at the Medicines for All Institute at Virginia Commonwealth University, where I developed and optimized synthetic routes for pharmaceutical compounds. With over nine years of experience across academia and industry, I bring both deep subject knowledge and real-world application to every tutoring session.
Before entering full-time research, I spent two rewarding years as a private tutor in Mumbai, India, working with high school and undergraduate students in general and organic chemistry. I have also mentored graduate students and interns in laboratory environments, helping them strengthen their conceptual understanding and critical thinking. From early on, I realized that every student learns differently, so I tailor each session to individual needs—keeping lessons interactive, concept-driven, and aligned with each learner’s pace and style. My teaching philosophy is grounded in four key pillars: Engage students by connecting abstract concepts to real-life scenarios, Explain topics clearly and concisely, Explore through guided problem-solving and dialogue, and Evaluate by identifying gaps and providing feedback that fosters lasting understanding.
Whether you’re preparing for AP Chemistry, college-level coursework, or need help with topics like reaction mechanisms or spectroscopy, I am committed to helping you succeed. I am passionate about going the extra mile to drill down concepts, clarify doubts, and build lasting understanding. Please feel free to reach out or book a trial session—I’d be happy to help you reach your goals!" less...
