"I'm Ruby! I'm a student at Teachers College, Columbia University, doing a Masters in the Teaching of Social Studies. I graduated from Pomona College with a degree in History. I've spent the past two years working as an English teacher in Galicia, Spain -- one year in a high school and the other in an elementary school. Now that I'm back in New York, I'm working towards becoming a social studies teacher and will begin student teaching in the fall.

I've been tutoring since I was in high school. It's extremely rewarding to help a student work toward a particular learning goal, and to break down intimidating concepts into manageable steps. I've worked with students of all ages from K-12, and in all academic subjects. In particular, I have extensive experience tutoring students in English as a Foreign Language, as well as in writing and social studies. As a tutor, I work to get to know my students and tailor my lessons based on their interests and abilities.
