"I’m a Washington State–certified high school teacher with about nine years of experience teaching grades 7–12 and working 1:1 with students. I hold a B.S. in Biological Education and an M.S. in Kinesiology, with endorsements in Secondary Mathematics, Biology, and Health & Fitness. I’ve taught the full high-school math sequence—Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Integrated Math 1–3, Trigonometry/Precalculus—and I also tutor Biology and Chemistry. My background includes both in-person classroom teaching and online instruction, so I’m comfortable supporting students in whichever format works best. I’ve completed over 1,000 hours of tutoring and taught 1,000s of students over almost a decade.
My tutoring style is straightforward and supportive. In the first session we set a clear goal (next test, unit, or concept), do a short diagnostic, and make a plan we can actually follow. I lean on modeling, guided practice, and independent practice (with retrieval practice and error analysis), and I use Desmos, GeoGebra, and Wyzant’s online tools for visual learners. I switch between inquiry-based and step-by-step approaches based on what the student needs that day. Recent students have raised their IXL diagnostic scores on average by a few hundred points, equal to years of grade level progress.
I most often support Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, IM1–IM3, and Trig/Precalculus, plus high-school Biology and Chemistry. I work with middle-school through senior-year students who want structure, clear explanations, and steady progress—in person or online. If you’re looking for a tutor who listens, keeps it positive, and adapts to your pace, I’d love to work with you." less...
