"Hello! I am Eric, a veteran history teacher who loves helping students to think about the past. I'm available to help students with AP classes or self-studying, history class assignments, and home schoolers interested in digital projects.

During thirty-four years teaching high school students, I have learned that guided practice is the essence of education. My students practice by examining sources, connecting concepts, and answering sample questions. Studying history can be fascinating, and I help my students to see this. My teaching career in California and Minnesota includes years of AP World and AP European History, along with US and World history classes at all levels. I provide specific, high quality feedback on student writing based on experience as an official reader for the AP World and AP Euro exams. I have published more than 200 practice questions for AP World History and I use original practice questions in all history subjects. Working with these helps students to learn how to break down stimulus-based multiple-choice questions, a skill that is also useful for the SAT and ACT.

I students prepare for assessments, including AP History exams by practicing test elements with detailed and precise feedback. I closely read student work to identify strengths and weaknesses, and then provide specific feedback for student improvement.

I love helping students to think historically. History fascinates me and I am constantly expanding my knowledge with academic books and podcasts. Combining these two passions, I deeply enjoy working individually with students to become successful history students.

I have been a licensed teacher since 1990. In addition, I completed a year of graduate classes in curriculum and instruction while in California, and in 2015 I earned a graduate certificate in Online Teaching & E-Learning for the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
