"Hi, I’m Colleen! I am a former high school English teacher, college writing instructor, and Title 1 K-12 math, reading and writing tutor, as well as an academic editor.

I have been working with students for over 15 years– as a classroom teacher in a public high school, as an instructor in an alternative school, as a Vermont State College writing instructor, as a tutor for English language learners, as a Title 1 K-12 math, reading and writing tutor, and as a private tutor offering support in math, reading, writing, and study skills.

I also support students through the college and prep school application process. I guide students to find their voice and to identify what makes them unique, highly qualified candidates for university or prep school admissions. I support them in writing and editing their application essays and short-answer questions.

Students I have worked with have been accepted into some of the country's top universities and prep schools, including Duke University, University of Pennsylvania, University of California Berkeley, Tufts University, Johns Hopkins University, and Phillips Exeter Academy.

I also love to work with homeschoolers! I am happy to arrange individual and group lessons to support students’ learning. We can work on spelling, grammar, writing conventions and style. I also love helping students with creative writing. In addition to publishing many academic articles, I have also published my creative writing. I have run numerous poetry writing workshops, and I really enjoy helping students find and explore their creative voice.

Finally, I am a highly experienced editor. I have worked in academic, scientific publishing for many years as an editor. I am available to edit scientific, technical, and medical (STM) manuscripts or other academic manuscripts.
