"Hello! My name is Sahil. I am a Bay Area native, currently studying Computer Science and Engineering at UCI. I enjoy going to the gym, playing soccer, and teaching students! I first began tutoring as an instructor in Mathnasium during high school for about 1 year. I tutored students from kindergarten to 12th grade in mathematical fundamentals and concepts, including test prep. At UCI, I worked as an instructor in an extracurricular course for 1 year, helping students complete hands-on engineering projects dealing with programming and engineering fundamentals. Here I led workshops teaching 40+ students while also providing assistance to individual students. Currently, I am in charge of this course, so I have been improving and refining our curriculum for 130 undergraduate students.

Through my extensice teaching experience, I discovered that I truly loved helping students learn and achieve their goals. The most rewarding part of tutoring is seeing students overcome obstacles to understand concepts. Rather than showing students the answers, I encourage them to solve problems on their own, giving guidance when they run into roadblocks. My style of teaching is heavily focused on learning through practice rather than lecture. So when tutoring a student, for example, we would go through an example problem to understand key concepts, then go through practice problems, until the student can solve one without any help.
