"Hi, I'm Kaylie. I graduated from the University of Virginia in May 2025 with a double major in Biology and East Asian Studies (concentration in Korean) and earned a 3.7 GPA. Along the way, I also became certified in Basic Life Support and as a Certified Medical Assistant. My academic background has given me a strong foundation in both science and problem-solving, and I enjoy sharing that knowledge in ways that feel approachable and meaningful to students.
I’ve been tutoring and teaching in different settings for several years. From 2020 to 2023, I worked as a K–12 math tutor, helping students build confidence in everything from basic skills to advanced concepts. In college, I volunteered with non-native English speakers to support their language development and worked with the All Girls STEM Society, creating short, engaging workshops to spark interest in science and math among elementary school children. I also served as a teaching assistant for a course on infectious diseases, where I supported undergraduates in mastering complex material and encouraged them to think about its real-world applications.
Through these experiences, I’ve worked with students of many ages, backgrounds, and learning styles. What I’ve learned is that every student benefits from patience, flexibility, and encouragement. Whether it’s math, science, or language learning, I make it a priority to adapt my approach so that students feel supported and capable of succeeding. My goal is not only to help with assignments or concepts in the moment but also to build long-term confidence and curiosity in learning." less...
