"Hi, I'm Mary! I'm a neuroscience major at The George Washington University with minors in Criminal Justice and Human Anatomy. I'm on the Dean's List and deeply passionate about helping K-12 students succeed not only academically but personally and confidently.
My favorite subjects to tutor are Biology (especially Neuroscience) and Psychology, because I've always been fascinated by how the brain works, how we form memories, build understanding, and process emotions. I believe learning is not just about memorization, but about meaning. When we understand how something connects to our lives or how it's structured in the brain, it becomes not only easier to recall, but more exciting to learn.
I have tutored students from elementary through high school in biological sciences, math, and English. I've led small study groups, worked one-on-one with students, and hosted after-school help to reinforce key concepts and build academic confidence. Whether through breaking down complex biology topics, assisting with homework, or helping students find their voice in writing, I strive to meet each learner where they are. My goal is to not only help students improve their grades, but to foster deeper understanding and a lasting appreciation for learning.
Outside of academics, I'm a writer and photographer! I enjoy capturing moments through both images and words, whether it's through poetry that reflects personal experience or photography that tells untold stories. My tutoring style is patient, clear, and adapted to each student's learning needs. I always welcome questions, feedback, and collaboration with families.
If you're looking for a supportive, thoughtful tutor who meets students with care and encouragement, while helping them learn deeply and grow confidently, I'd be honored to support their journey. I am easy to reach and always respond promptly. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson. I look forward to working with you! :)" less...
