"Hello, I’m Leyla Inal. I am a junior at Davidson College majoring in Studio Art with a minor in Philosophy, and I work as a songwriter, visual artist, and writing coach. My background includes leading a Middle SchoolWriting Center, where I supported students in analytical, creative, and academic writing, and this experience continues to inform my work with students today.

Alongside academic writing, I specialize in college application and personal-statement coaching. I help students develop authentic, compelling narratives for personal statements, supplements, and creative portfolios, guiding them through brainstorming, structuring, and revision so their work reflects both who they are and what selective colleges look for.

I also work as a songwriting and lyric coach, supporting students and artists in transforming raw ideas and emotions into complete, expressive songs. My approach balances intuitive creative flow with technical craft, helping writers develop lyrics, melody, and structure while staying connected to their own voice.

In the visual arts, my experience includes two summers as an assistant art teacher working with elementary and middle school students on drawing, painting, and creative exploration. I have received three Gold Keys and two Silver Keys from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, and I enjoy helping students at all levels — from building foundational skills to preparing portfolios — develop confidence and a distinct artistic identity.

Whether I am working with a high schooler on a research paper, a college applicant on an essay, or a songwriter on a new piece, my goal is the same: to help students feel grounded in their ideas, supported in their process, and capable of expressing themselves clearly and powerfully.
