"I'm Kayla, or as my students call me, Mrs. G! I graduated with honors from Indiana University in 2019 with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a Minor in Mathematics. I've been teaching on the west side of Indy ever since!

I have taught students from diverse backgrounds and varying ability levels, specifically in grades 7 to 9. Algebra is my favorite subject, but Calculus is a close second! In addition to classroom teaching, I have 2 years of experience tutoring both individuals and small groups, from 5th grade all the way up to Calculus! I have offered tutoring in person as well as through online platforms.

When I teach, as well as when I tutor, I always ensure that students have the scaffolds needed to achieve their goals. Mathematical concepts are built from the ground up, and if any part of that foundational structure is missing, it can hinder a student from progressing further and reaching their full potential. I work closely with students to assess their mathematical foundations, and how we can apply scaffolds through direct instruction, guided practice, and independent practice to help them become budding math experts.

I became a teacher to share my love for math and to make a lasting impact on the lives of my students. Over the years, I have achieved this by being supportive and caring while maintaining high expectations for excellence. I hope to help your student reach their goals and foster a love for math just like I have!
