Learning goals are different for each student. I am adaptable and I work for you. If you just want a grade, then we can take the path of least resistance. If you are working on a subject you will need for your career, future academics, or if you are just driven by curiosity, we can focus on depth of knowledge, working skills and long-term retention. I have a long history of adapting to the needs of students and parents.
To families that are looking to structure home education, I love helping to build curriculum that focuses on critical thinking and analytical reasoning. Every student is unique. We must be comfortable starting from where we are because confidence is so important. Individualizing curriculum that meets the needs of students allows them to build this confidence while being ambitious and enjoying the process.
My favorite subjects to teach are math, science and writing.
I love that science has so many opportunities to be creative, insightful, and playful. All the pieces do fit together, and it is our responsibility to work towards a better understanding. Throughout my life my work ethic and depth of knowledge on a large variety of scientific topics has inspired others. This is the most rewarding part for me.
Math was my first love. I know I can help students navigate deep waters while limiting frustration. I have been doing this for a long time.
My writing game has holes. I am not a great final editor, yet I am very strong in creating a bigger picture with a flow that allows the reader to follow arguments." less...
