"I believe in the power of a person’s story – it led me to work in the film industry for years before deciding to pivot to pursue law. Everyone has their own narrative – what drives them, what they’ve experienced and overcome, why they want to attend law school, and what they hope to do. A person is more than the sum of a few scores that’s supposed to determine whether they are admitted to a top law school. I can help you put your best foot forward in your law school applications and shape your personal statement to accurately convey the totality of who you are.

I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a BA in film studies. After working in the film industry for 8 years, I decided to have a more tangible impact and decided to become a civil rights lawyer. As a non-traditional applicant who was older than the average law student, I wanted law schools to understand who I was beyond my LSAT score or nearly decade-old GPA. After receiving my JD from Berkeley Law School, I completed a legal fellowship at the American Civil Liberties Union and clerkships with federal judges on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

At Berkeley Law, I served on the Admissions Committee with the Dean of Admissions and several faculty members. Reading personal statements and evaluating the merits of an application is very difficult, and it was a responsibility I took seriously. My experience on the committee gave me valuable insight into the admissions process of a T-14 school. I advocated fiercely for non-traditional applicants and persuaded my colleagues into voting to admit many of these individuals.

I was an online editor of the California Law Review, Berkeley Law’s flagship journal. I was elected to serve on CLR’s Holistic Review Committee for the grading of the write-on competition for those trying to gain admission to the journal. The committee evaluated a candidate’s application without focusing on one specific graded component." less...
