"Throughout my educational career, I have strived to serve my community. While earning my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a minor in American History from the University of Central Florida, I served as a tutor, peer-mentor, and co-coordinator for the College of Education’s STEP Program. Through this program, I assisted incoming freshman (who aspired to become teachers) transition from high schoolers to successful college students through mentorship, professional development sessions, and community-building initiatives. After my graduation, I was privileged to create and teach a new Social Emotional Learning elective to middle school students.
In the Fall of 2021, I began to simultaneously pursue my master’s and doctorate at the University of Florida. I currently hold a Masters in Educational Leadership and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership & Policy Program. Throughout my graduate career, I continued to engage in teaching by serving as a private 1:1 tutor for various students, including students with autism and learning disabilities.
As an educator, my teaching philosophy is that every student, regardless of their background or experiences, deserves the opportunity to receive an equitable education to aid in their success. I believe that education is not just about basic learning but about creating an inclusive space where students can feel supported and empowered to reach their fullest potential. When engaging in teaching, I believe that every student brings unique perspectives and strengths. As an educator, it is my responsibility to ensure that every student’s unique quality and talent are celebrated in the classroom. Furthermore, I believe in creating a learning experience that is student-centered, thus fostering their abilities by providing guidance to meet every student’s needs and learning platform. This will include differentiating instruction, various learning methods, evaluations of not only student learning, but also my own teaching methods." less...
