I have a Bachelors in Applied Mathematics with a CS minor and 3 Associates degrees in Math, Computer Science, and Physics. On the journey towards a Bachelors in math I covered many fundamental math topics including algebra, Calculus, linear algebra, diff eqs, statistics and everything in between. During my time at university I took upper level stem courses like abstract algebra, field theory, algorithms, and geometry. In the pursuit of a CS degree I utilized C++ doubly linked lists and other data structures to enhance algorithm efficiency. I've also delved into python and R studio for linear regression and Anova testing. In my studies in physics I applied vector calculus to electromagnetism and derived Maxwell's equations along with circuits and kinematics.
During my time at Cabrillo Community college I started going to the Math learning center to get help and eventually started working there myself. I worked there for about 4 years and during that time I learned so much about how to pass this knowledge over in a clear concise way. I developed the ability to prioritize and delegate complex math problems based on both student and tutor needs in an efficient, confident and calm manner. When I transferred to Humboldt University I continued to tutor at their learning center and because of my experience could help some of the beginner tutors. In tandem I have also been private tutoring for about 10 years now.
I have been learning math for my whole life and been tutoring for about 10 years of it. These sessions were mostly highschool and college students taking algebra and statistics. They were predominantly one-on-one in person or on zoom. However I have had plenty of opportunities to tutor groups of people. So let’s explore this universal language of patterns together!" less...
