"Hello, parents and students. My name is Eddie. I am a Mechanical Engineer and a former Youth Coach with a passion for mentorship. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from San Diego State University (2014). I am currently in the process of applying to a PhD program in Mechanical Engineering, which requires a mastery of advanced mathematics and physics.
During my undergraduate studies, I balanced a rigorous engineering curriculum while being a full-time parent to two young children, graduating with a 3.2 GPA. This experience taught me discipline and time management. Furthermore, I was selected as the Best Presenter in my Senior Capstone class. This recognition highlights my ability to take complex technical data and communicate it clearly and effectively to an audience, a skill that is the very heart of successful tutoring.
My teaching foundation is rooted in my experience working with youth. Over the course of a few years, I served as both a Little League Manager and a LEGO STEM Coach. In these roles, I worked directly with elementary and middle school students (ages 11–13). This experience was crucial in developing my ability to be patient and adaptable. It taught me how to break down complex challenges, whether building a robot or learning a new play, into small, logical steps that a younger audience could understand.
I have translated these communication skills into private tutoring for high school students. While my coaching background is with younger groups, my engineering background allows me to confidently guide high students through advanced subjects like Physics, Algebra, and Geometry. I don't just teach students how to solve an equation; I explain why it matters and how it is used in the real world. Whether your student needs to raise their grade, prepare for an exam, or simply build confidence, I offer a supportive, fundamentals-first environment to help them succeed." less...
