"I have been tutoring for over a decade, beginning in high school where I helped younger students strengthen foundational skills in math, science, reading, and writing. I continued tutoring throughout college while earning a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a B.S. in Chemistry, along with a minor in Materials Science. I was on the President’s List for four years and later balanced three jobs to finish my degrees, which taught me discipline, patience, and how to meet students where they are no matter their starting point.
I currently tutor students in subjects including Algebra, Calculus, Chemistry, and Physics. My approach is to simplify complex concepts into clear, intuitive steps, focusing heavily on understanding rather than memorization. I work with students of different learning styles and skill levels, including those who feel anxious, discouraged, or who believe they “just aren’t good at math.” I do not rush; I make sure students genuinely understand, and I can tell when something is unclear even if they say they understand. I address confusion directly, use guided examples, and reinforce concepts until the student feels confident.
For example, I am currently tutoring a friend who returned to Calculus after five years away from math. He has said that my explanations make difficult topics feel manageable, that I ask the right questions to check understanding, and that I help him build confidence rather than overwhelm him. Many of my past students have experienced the same—moving from struggling or unsure to performing strongly and actually enjoying the material.
My goal is to build long-term learning ability, not just short-term assignment completion. I help students develop problem-solving skills, academic independence, and confidence that carries with them far beyond any single class." less...
