"I have been teaching at Northern Virginia Community College for over 25 years. I have taught Algebra 1 and 2, College Algebra, Precalculus, Trigonometry, and Calculus. While teaching at NVCCC, I was nominated three times for teacher of the year. I won the award once.

I believe that students first need to be provided with the necessary prerequisite skills to succeed in their current course. When tutoring, I first determine where the gaps in background knowledge lie. Once we cover those necessary skills, we move onto the current topics. My preference is to get my private students ahead of their class. That way students go to class hearing the material for the second time. The gives them more self confidence to succeed.

Over the years, I have tutored many Madison, Marshall and Oakton High School students, as well as college students.

While some prefer a regular weekly schedule, others only want help on an as needed basis. I am agreeable to both arrangements." less...
